Where did you go?

Upper Manistee River from "John's Landing" to County 612

How was it?

Fantastic weather! We stopped for a few well-appreciated swim breaks due to the fact we didn’t know if we would get another day like this one yet this year.

What kinds of boats were there?

One solo canoe (Jocelyn ), 7 rec kayaks 6 of those were Daggers, it looked like a Dagger outing!

Anything noteworthy?

We had a great trip, no portages necessary, no one dumped. At the lunch stop while were we eating, a couple of groups launched which we passed at various intervals down river. We passed quite a few fly fishermen after lunch also who were very accommodating in letting us pass.

After our second swim break, John and Lois had a spirited discussion on whether or not we were running late as some of the group had other commitments for the evening. There was a wager mentioned, but I don’t know if that was paid off. In the end, we got to the take out in plenty of time for everyone to get on their way in time for their activities.

At the take out there was a large group of kids from Camp Leelanau who carried our boats up to the road. What a treat!
