This is the third year of sampling macroinvertebrates on the Pine River for an assessment of stream quality.  This sampling is the start of ongoing data collection that goes into the MiCorps stream quality database and our effort is the only private project plan that MiCorps has so far approved.

The data so far indicates that the level of use at the sites we sample may be impacting the Pine's stream quality, so more good data to support or reject that observation is necessary.

Our team can use people interested in collecting the macroinvertebrates from the river, people to sort through the sample and preserve what we find, and other helpers.  It is especially good for those who want an idea of the underwater life in the
Pine River as well as those who fish and have an interest in seeing what flies may be hatching in the future.  If you have done collecting at the May event, this may give you an idea of seasonal changes in the macroinvertebrate fauna.
