This paddle is rated difficult because of length of time, distance & speed required to complete. It is estimated to be about 17 miles & will be a fast paced aerobic workout.
The kayak MUST be at least 15 feet in length, have fore & aft sealed bulkheads, and you must be capable of moving at a sustained quick pace.
This trip is only recommended for well conditioned people who have been kayaking frequently this summer.
There will be a portage of about a block in Bellaire to reach the next body of water in the chain.
Bring lunch, lots of snacks, and plenty of water, then add two extra bottles just in case.
PFD's are required be worn by trip host - no exceptions, bring open water safety gear such as paddle float, pump, etc. Be prepared to be on the water for a full day of strenuous paddling activity.
