Trip Reports

September 9 Pine River, Walker to Dobson

Irene Marcussen | Published on 9/9/2022
Our group had a leisurely paddle on the Pine River from Walker Bridge to Dobson Bridge.
Twelve paddlers; Glenn Bier, Lois Goldstein, John Heiam, Paul Marcussen, Irene Marcussen, Gail Hastings, Kathleen Imre, Jacqui Morgenstein, Marlene Puska, Donna Steinebach, John Walton and Camille Walton enjoyed conversations about past kayaking adventures, gardening and colors of the fall flowers/trees/river, stumps to avoid, etc.
Today the Pine River’s height was 3.89, average flow was 226 cubic-per second and today the discharge flow was 194 cubic feet per second. Yes, the river is low, but very manageable.
In the mist of nature surrounding us with great views of a paper wasp nest, a Merganser duck that followed us for miles, Cedar Wax wings flying in & out over the river, turtles and a slew of small groups of wild turkey on the roads.
We are always happy when we can report that no one dumped and everyone survived. 🌹
