Trip Reports

July 25 Pigeon River

Published on 7/25/2009

Who came?  Lois and John, Marv and Marlene, Gail Hastings, Rob Barker, Karen Mueller

Where did you go? Webb Road to Afton Road

What kinds of boats were there? Everyone in single rec kayaks.

Anything noteworthy?  It didn't rain!!!! Despite a really iffy forecast we started spotting blue sky as we were running the shuttle at 10:30 AM. As we got on the river, the sun came out and it turned into a gorgeous day on a beautiful stretch of river.

There were several logs that had to be navigated around and under and some tight squeezes but we only had to stop once due to a log that was completely blocking the river. John, Marv and Rob took turns sawing through it and opened up a nice three foot waterway for the rest of us to pass through. Not a lot of wildlife out today but Lois did make friends with a toad on a log.

It was a wonderful paddle! Just goes to show that sometimes when you brave the weather you really luck out!
