Afternoon Paddle on Bass Lake

Glenn, Howie, Trish and I had a laid-back paddle on the western side of Bass Lake. Mila, the gentle, but ancient resident Great Dane, gave us a good send off from the boat launch, and welcomed us back when we returned. The rains had stopped well beforehand, and the predicted NW winds never materialized. The lake was calm, and although the sun did not appear until the take-out (natch!), it was a pleasant afternoon and we had the lake practically to ourselves. After such a goofy winter, we were all glad to be on the water again, have a chance to visit, and hydrate those kayaks!
At the south end of the lake, an Osprey hovered above a breeding pair of Canada Geese, the latter of which became quite vocal; we suspected their nest was nearby. Just offshore from the north island, a pair of Common Loons swam near us, and one dove and swam very close to Glenn's kayak.
I hope we will have many more pleasant lake paddles this paddling season!
