1st TAPC Lois Goldstein and John Heiam Memorial
Kayak and Paddle Presentation - 2024
In late August of 2023, Lois Goldstein and John Heiam were killed in an
auto accident on their way home from a river cleanup on the Pine River.
They were stewards of many rivers but the Pine was their favorite.
Lois and John were both teachers and loved teaching children all
sorts of skills. They were also 2 of the founders of the original club in 1999
that was called the Cherry Capitol Paddle America Club that would later
became the TAPC in 2008 and 2009.
John had the idea to manage the TAPC with a website and he worked out
the details with ClubExpress.com which has worked really well for us.
The TAPC thought it only fitting that the Kayak and Paddle the club
awarded to students who participated in river cleanups annually be
given in Lois' and John's name as a memorial to the work they did for
the club and on the the several rivers they worked on.
A small plaque was made and attached to the kayak to designate the
award to their memory.
This is the first year that is being done.
