It started innocently enough. We launched from Hull Park on Boardman Lake and headed downtown to Union St. dam. We picked up a few small bags of trash along the way, but as a river clean-up trip it didn't take long. It was a lovely day, one that did not portend the ugliness that followed. As we re-entered Boardman Lake one of the paddlers hijacked the group and demanded that we paddle, rather than drive, to the other end of the lake for lunch at Auntie Pastas. This would, of course, require a return paddle. Yikes! The paddle leader (somewhat of a slug) had been anticipating a short paddle and a long lunch, but she meekly turned over control of the outing when it became clear that the rest of the crew was eager to participate in the mutiny. We landed across the river from the restaurant on a grassy knoll. After lunch we paddled back to Hull Park, all being the better for the extended, albeit unauthorized, experience. Thanks, Ann!
