Sept. 17 Little Platte Lake

We had a lovely, clear, sunny, no wind, but quite chilly day. Nine paddlers: Bud Sawyer, Mary Lee, Marlene and Marv Puska, Jan Robb, Peg Lawrenson, Steve Wentworth, Bob and Peg Hawes. We cruised along the conservancy shore looking for wildlife--a few ducks, Canadian geese, a couple of Kingfishers (one of whom took a spectacular nose-dive right in front of one of us, thus living up to his name). Some more ambitious paddlers covered a greater circumference before heading back to shore, where we all converged after about two hours on the water. One of us took an unexpected splash when disembarking, and another--could it have been the leader--took a wrong turn on the way to the lunch spot, which resulted in three cars arriving a few minutes late. Nevertheless, we had a fun lunch at Papa J's, and for those of us from Benzie, it was nice to have the rest of the day free.
