This sunny fall outing was shared by four TAPC members: Sara Cockrell (back from her western travels and as perky as ever in her solo canoe), Paul Bolhuis (a relatively new member, braving the chilly temps in shorts and tee shirt under his natty collared PFD), Mike Terrell (resplendent in a totally orange ensemble: kayak, paddle, hat and jacket) and outings chair Lois Goldstein (happy to have my nice warm Chota boots, especially when the entry to the pond got a bit shallow and we had to get out of our kayaks for ten yards or so).
We met after lunch and had a serene trip down from the Forks - no major obstacles even though we had quite a bit of wind and rain earlier in the week. We had time for a few photo ops with just a taste of fall colors - it seems that the peak is still a week or two away. Perhaps the best part of the trip was the pond, which was like glass! We scared up a flock of ducks and later saw a bunch of geese with nearby turtles. The reflections off the hillsides were gorgeous, and the lack of wind made the trip to the takeout very easy. Good times with good friends, and we all agreed that we are so very fortunate to live right here - and to be able to share this lovely place only 1/2 hour from our homes!
