June 17 Boardman

Lois Goldstein, John Heiam, Jack Kurtz, Bob Fitch, Fred & Judy Swartz and Tracie Lord put in below Brown Bridge Dam after shuttling cars to Beitner Rd and Lone Pine. Beautiful sunshine from start to finish, ordered up by Jack who was certain that Thursday would be the best weather this week. Tracie received instruction from John and Lois on ferrying, leaning downstream against an obstacle and reading the river. Thanks to Fred for demonstrating how reaching too early can get your butt wet yet keep your feet dry. A nifty skill if you're ever in the hot seat! Tracie could ferry better to the left than to the right until being faced with a large downed tree. She had to use the ferry to the right to save her bacon, and made it! Judy and Tracie took out at Beitner, while the rest of the group continued on through the rapids to Lone Pine. Written by Tracie Lord
