With high temps and bright sun, the Betsie delivered a pleasant respite from the day's intensity for John Heiam, Lois Goldstein, Tracie Lord, Henry Eckhardt, Kathy Sanborn, Gail Swed, Fred & Judy Swartz, and Cindy Curley. The latter three undertook their maiden voyages with the paddle club as new members, finding the whole experience quite amenable.
Following a congenial lunch in Beulah, we found the river low, generally calm, and mercifully uncrowded. Conditions were perfect. John and Lois canoed while the rest of us kayaked.
There were dips for fun and dips for unanticipated excitement. We practiced forward strokes and back paddling, and checked out new equipment. Kathy and Gail took a detour en route, but it all turned out well in the end.
'Twas fun on the water and a grand time was had by all!
