7 of us put in at River Pitch to clean down to Shumsky - Jacqui, Steve, Kathleen, David, Paul and Irene. As usual Steve had his sit-on-top and was wearing his waders so he ended up getting far more than his fair share of the spoils - as well as being a half hour behind the rest. But when he and I finally got to the takeout, there was a large pile of trash left for us by the others who had gone on to Peegeos for much needed food. On the way Steve rescued (and offloaded to river friends) a plastic arm chair, a large wooden bench, a 2ft x2ft x 8" cushion (waterlogged of course). The final prize was a 4ft square of astro-turf that came to the takeout with us.
Then there was the large canvas holdall zipped up with packets of rotting chicken, freezer gel packs and bottles of water and soda which Kathleen and Jacqui dealt with while holding their noses. It was too heavy to lift until it had been emptied so it was a very malodorous task. Luckily Steve took it to spare us the ongoing stench (our hero!)
Others got 2 huge buckets as well as the assorted shoes and cans that are our staple. Ron nearly got a PFD that was wrapped around some branches in a strainer but his boat was a fraction too tall in front to get it. I completed his work with my small Old Town Stoker (Otter lookalike).
Altogether a challenging and very rewarding day. Thanks gang!

The final haul - minus the big'uns!

The first load.

The astro-turf. Only Steve could get that!
