Sara and Jocelyn already knew Ann Beaujean, but John and Lois, Fred and Judy, and Mariah got to meet her too this trip. She paddled her state-of-the-art Bell Flash Fire, as did Sara hers, with Jocelyn envious and still plying the waters in her lowly Sandpiper. All others were in kayaks. Since the outfitter was closed for the season, we did our own shuttle. Sara and John both had their trailers along, so we needed only three cars to get the eight of us and boats there.
The water was nearly back to normal after the recent high from our big rains but still enough to cover most gravel bars. One big willow totally blocked our way, but Fred lumber-jacked a path through on river left. He's loving his new Liquid Logic play-boat and he tried surfing every available wave.
He also treated us to another well executed seal launch off the lunch platform.
The takeout at Fisher Woods has to be about the worst we use anywhere -- hard to disembark and treacherous to carry boats up the steep bank over those boulders! Be very careful there.
