Lower Platte Afternoon
It was a Sesame Street day on the river. One of these things was not like the others, Dean with his solo canoe, the rest of us in kayaks: Linda, Diane, Kate, Peg, Sandy and Tracie. A slow float was enjoyed by all with a rest stop at the fish weir. No waves on Loon Lake made for a easy crossing along with a higher than normal water level. In fact, there was no bottom scraping at all! Skills like finding eddies, peeling out and backferrying were practiced. Little trash was noticed, but that will change.... so all were reminded of the upcoming Lower Platte clean-up on June 25.
