After a chilly night tent camping at Scheck's saddle camp, and being serenaded by several horses and one demented whippoorwill, Tracie and Linda met Bob at the Dollar Lake trailhead to leave the cars with boats at 7 AM. We returned to access the North Country Trail near Scheck's, hiking back to Dollar Lake. We encountered quite a few people enjoying the outdoors around Dollar Lake but no other hikers along the trail. We consumed a leisurely lunch in the shade before driving to the put-in at the Forks. The weather warmed up nicely by the time we hit the river. There were plenty of folks soaking up the sun on all sorts of flotation devices as we paddled this beautiful local river. Of course Bob couldn't resist picking up a few cans and bottles along the way and we all opted for a swim. A long time was spent soaking our legs tired from the hike. The cold water sure felt good! All agreed this was our best 4th of July in some time.
