July 10 Manistee Hodenpyl to Red Bridge

Glad to see newer members, Don and Kathy joining in on this trip along with veteran members, John and Lois, Marv and Marlene, Mike and Barb, Tracie, Karen, Steve and Angie. The day started out with an early morning rain, but by trip time it was partly sunny, humid and in the 80's. It's hard to believe that on such a fine summer day, we encountered no other paddlers on the river. Only the hot dusty backpackers on the ridge looked rather envious toward our flotilla. We enjoyed two swim breaks. One especially was very informative with rescue demos using a river throw bag. Volunteers enjoyed the cool dip in the river and tow toward shore. The rain held out till all the boats were loaded and even ceased momentarily for an ice cream stop in Mesick. Thanks to Karen, trip leader for a great day on the river! Angie
