A "twisted" fun day on the Little Manistee from Driftwood Valley Campground to Nine Mile Road was enjoyed by twelve, Birthday Girl Jocelyn in her solo canoe and kayakers, our hosts Lois & John, Kai, Marv & Marlene, Tracie, Judy & Fred, Sue, Mary, and Peg. (Here's Marv surrounded by a bevy of lovelies)
Beautiful wildlife was viewed between many twists and turns... American bald eagles, blue heron, kingfishers, ducks, turtles and salmon, which the fisher people were trying to catch for Monday night dinner.
Lunch was yummy in the shades of Manistee National Forest. One highlight was Judy finding a pink "shroom". The Paddling Gods were with Lois as she tripped on a "twisted" tree root and did an incredible downhill flying-root fall, landing face forward on all fours (and other body parts) without serious injury. John followed with an entry into his boat, but without his paddle. He soon discovered that he was sitting on it! Fred turned the Little Manistee into his own personal cleanup trip.
It was a glorious day on the Little Manistee which prompted some of the paddlers to say "Is there another mid-week paddle?"...check the Club's website for an impromptu Lower Platte trip this Wednesday.
(It was Jocelyn's birthday and her step son Kai was visiting)
See you on the water.
