A gorgeous day on a river not far from home. Susan & Gerald met John & Lois at Baxter before joining forces with the rest of the group upstream at the US-131 access. There were two tandem canoes (in which I always feel like I'm dancing) and four kayaks. We had a wonderful time getting to know Kati and Marvin, who were each attending their first TAPC outing. Marv & Marlene helped tremendously by demonstrating ferries and eddy turns, so that nobody had any trouble maneuvering or stopping at lunchtime. Who would have ever expected to find two Marvins on the same outing? We also spotted a pair of mergansers, and we have some theories about why we never see the male around after the ducklings arrive later in the spring. There was a bald eagle sighting, as well as a turtle who was lounging on the mud flat near our lunch stop. I'm looking forward to more good times on the water with both old and new friends.
