Another beautiful northern
Michigan day on a another beautiful northern Michigan river. We are so blessed
to have so many great paddling rivers in our area; I hope we will never
take them for granted. This trip started at the Dam Road put-in, just west of
Benzonia and it started off more like an obstacle course. Right off the
bat we had to contend with downed trees and shallow water followed by more downed trees in
tight curves. Eventually the water deepened and our outing turned into almost a float trip
with tight curves. A scenic waterfall was found plus a few deep holes to
cool off in. I say this river is a good place to paddle with not
much traffic on a weekday, except for the take-out - but that's
another story. Participants were Lois & John, Leigh, Mike T, Harold, Marv
& Marlene, Linda, Jessica, Tracie and myself.
