We had sunshine all day, after three days of rainy weather. John and I used our solo canoes (with canoe paddles). Fred, Pam and Harold had solo canoes with kayak paddles. Marvin, Judy and Sue had their kayaks. It was a great group, and the water was high enough so that we managed to avoid grounding out. But there were lots of tight spots that required tricky maneuvers around downed trees, and that made the entire trip interesting. We used every lesson we had ever had on handling moving water.
John and Fred did a little bit of "woody displacement", though the operation didn't really slow us down. Having a small group made the lunch spot easier to negotiate, and once again, the trip up and back on Fred's Landing Road was one of the most exciting parts of the day. Special thanks to Sue and Marvin for their assistance with the shuttle arrangement.
