May 18 Boardman River - Forks to BB Landing
Published on 5/19/2013
It was a fine morning for a paddle, what the Irish call a "soft" day. A little light drizzle, a few scattered rain drops but nothing too off putting for our little band of Boardman River lovers, Fred & Judy, Kati, and Tracie. We were all excited for our first trip through the new section of river. After launching at the Forks, we enjoyed a leisurely paddle while being serenaded by the birds with a stop at the horse camp for snacks to fuel us for the adventure to come. The reclaimed river channel meandered us through a slightly "alien" landscape leading us to ponder the wood sculptures made by 100 years of underwater entombment. All but one agreed it was much better than slogging across the pond getting stuck on sandbars and covered in muck! Why the lone dissenting opinion you may ask? Why, our wonderful Kati was "born" into kayaking too late to get a chance to experience the "crossing of the pond"!
