Here come the Southerners: Susan & John, the wild kids ready to paddle. We have had a warm welcome from all we have met. Okay, on with the paddle......
We had a wonderful day on a nice river with 17 very good people. We had two home-made canoes, other canoes and kayaks of various types. This trip is also unusual with 3 Susans and 3 Johns, no - not that kind of johns, okay! Spirits were high and everyone biting at the bit. All got underway with little effort. Not one single person turned over, and only one crazy person went swimming - oh, that was me. The weather was wonderful and the water just a little cold for a truly enjoyable swim. We enjoyed the beautiful shoreline with many Canada geese and their goslings. The water was clear in many places – enough that we could see large fish (trout and suckers) who were hiding from the fly fishermen along the shore. Lunch was enjoyable on a grassy shoreline where we were entertained with stories and other bits of interesting news. At 2:30 we arrived at the take-out just as everyone was getting tired of the wind that seemed strong enough to blow us back up the river. It was another great day on a beautiful river. Thank you to everyone, especially to John and Lois who have arranged another great paddle.
