Trip Reports

June 4 Lower Platte

Published on 6/4/2013
It was a day for hello's and goodbye's. And true to form the former happy and the latter sad. We began by meeting a new club member for whom the trip was designed........the Hello. Dan was trying out his new boat on a river for the first time. A few pointers on paddling served him well. He looked comfortable and more at ease by the end of the trip. He kept the bottom of the boat a secret the whole way. Bob F, who hadn't been here for quite a while and Linda P, who comes here often both enjoyed the river today. Sunshine with little wind.  Plenty of depth kept even Tracie's Pungo from grounding out. But fate & gremlins were to yet cause a catastrophe. She left her keys sitting on the cement retaining wall at the put-in, upon return to fetch cars, looked everywhere & questioned everyone but no results. Goodbye dear MSU Spartan house key & penlight, farewell Chevy key & fob, adios mailbox key, so long little storage key. I hope you all have a good life wherever you end up! Sniff, sniff, hiccup, sigh, oh let me wipe this tear.......
