Dan, Tracie, Lois, and John launched on a cool, sunny, morning. There were quite a few fishermen on the lake, but no other activity. We decided to circumnavigate the lake in a counter- clockwise direction. When we were about halfway around, a sea plane landed and then took off again. We saw three different bald eagles circling high above us, but they never landed.
The geese were sending out honks of alarm which the eagles ignored. They seemed to be enjoying just riding the thermals. We saw a deer wade along the shore, but we never saw the loons several fishermen reported seeing. Lake Dubonnet is a great place to go for an easy paddle. Circling the lake takes about two hours, if you paddle at a steady easy pace.
