July 23 Boardman

What a difference a week makes! Sandy Weir, Dan Wittkopp and I started at BB Landing, but due to wind, we decided that we would go up to the Forks and start our trip there. A cloudy and at some points a breezy day, we got on the river just before 2pm. Had a great paddle, saw the merganser family, who have grown tremendously in the last month to the point I think they were arguing with their parents and almost the same size. Nice to see that they are still all together!! River was a bit higher than last week, thanks to the previous night's rain and had a good flow. Nobody to be seen but a lone fly fisherman who was just starting. We finished up at BB Landing just before 4:30 with the temps at a balmy 58 (last week it was 94). Even with the winds from the northwest at I'm guessing about 20mph, the wind on the new stretch wasn't much of a factor. We did have a spit of rain but barely noticeable. Thanks to Sandy and Dan for the trip....twas a fun one. Hope to see you again!! Mike
