Danny joined Lois and John on a beautiful summer day for a one hour paddle out to Power Island. When we left the harbor, the waves were starting to kick up, and the wind was in our face as we paddled to the island. The waves were big enough to throw a little splash up on us to cool us down.
Once we got near the island, the waves subsided. The water was a beautiful turquoise, so Power Island looked like it could be in the Caribbean.
We enjoyed a quiet picnic lunch with a gentle breeze keeping the bugs at bay. Lois couldn't resist checking out the books at the Power Island lending library.
Check out the book she chose - "A Notorious Woman"
On the trip back the wind seemed to disappear, and the seas flattened, so it was an easy paddle. In the afternoon we saw a few boats in the area, but the only boat that got close to us was a sailboat.
This is a great trip mid week, as long as you have a kayak with two bulkheads and have practiced deep water rescues.
