Although we have lived here full time for 13 years, I had never paddled on Boardman Lake. One day when riding our bikes past the lake, I decided to lead a trip there. Danny brought his brother's family, Jennifer (sister-in-law), Will and Dean (nephews). Tracie, Kati, Lois, Pam, and Harold also joined us. We started at the boat ramp at 5:30 and paddled clockwise around the lake, staying close to the shore. About two-thirds of the way down the eastern shore, Will and Jennifer (who had never paddled before) were starting to tire, so Harold led the Pinegar group back. Once they got back, they realized they were just getting the feel for paddling, so they went down the Boardman River. The rest of us continued around the lake and were rewarded by watching mink play on the old stumps. There were also ducks, geese, swans, and a green heron and a loon.
Don't pass up this playground in our backyard.
