The three regulars on the Tuesday on the Boardman were joined by Kathy and Carol who were about to take their first trip on this part of the river. We all met at BBL where we unloaded the five kayaks; then Tracie, Dan, Kathy and Mike proceeded to Beitner Rd to drop off the vehicles while Carol (who wished had brought a book with her) watched over the boats. The shuttle took about 20 minutes and onto the river we went.
The weather didn't look promising when we started. but off we went. Water might have been a bit higher and faster than the last few weeks but this reporter hasn't been on that stretch for a few weeks...so I really don't know? Nice current and water crystal clear. We saw a few families of Mallards, a Blue Heron who appeared to be sleeping...(never moved as we all passed it while it was perched on a log on the side of the river) and Kathy and Mike saw a mink swimming.
We stopped at Shumsky's Landing for a brief break, found one piece of litter that was disposed of and then off to Beitner.
Had a great trip which took about 3 hours and 15 minutes...packed the boats into the vehicles and were on our way. Thanks to all who ignored the weather...twas another great trip on the Boardman!!
