August 29 Pine River cleanup: Walker to Elm Flats

Published on 8/29/2013
Seven of us showed up to clean the Pine, but we found almost no trash!  In the first half hour all I found was a broken balloon.  Others were having similar luck.  I eventually found a large eddy that had enough trash to fill one small bag.  Others found enough that by lunch time we were able to deposit one large bag of trash at Lincoln.  After lunch we had little luck finding anything until Fred found a large log jam with a lot of trash.  We got most of the stuff, but we couldn't get to everything.  The logs were floating and would not support my weight. We ended about 2:30 at Elm Flats and had only been able to collect one additional large bag of trash.  The Pine is really, really clean!

Here, Fred is proving he is willing to crawl on his belly in wet sand to avoid getting his feet wet.
