This is my favorite section of the Boardman. Since I've been busy (& sick) since I got home, I wanted to stay close, and obviously, so did many other TAPC members, who asked to be added to the list. Jocelyn offered to meet me for a reverse shuttle since we both drive by Brown Bridge Landing on the way to The Forks. The group decided to do the normal shuttle before the paddle since we would be paddling later in the warmth. After leaving 3 to watch over our boats & gear, and driving Brown Bridge Rd, which was not muddy or rutted, Ian offered to drive the other 8 drivers back in his Suburban. Then, Henry could take him back in his pick-up afterwards since they both live near Williamsburg Rd.
Once we got on the river, the sunshine was so warm we had to remove layers. Everyone enjoyed the relaxed, social pace so much that before we realized it, we had arrived at Scheck's. We decided to have our picnic lunch there, arriving in an hour as expected. It was an easy hour to Brown Bridge Landing from there, where we hauled boats up the steps together, everyone helping out! Since most didn't have any plans for the rest of the afternoon, Mike & Barb suggested having a beer at Peegeo's, and we were hungry enough to order pizza, a burger, or salad, too. I enjoy traveling, but really appreciate coming home to my friends, and TAPC is like my home-away-from-home family! Thanks for joining me on the Boardman, Jocelyn, Ian, Henry, Bob, Mike, Barb, Marv, Marlene, Katie, Glenn & Marvin. Looks like I'm going to be grounded for awhile, so will just have to let the blue herons & eagles do the soaring! I was very tempted to hang glide in the Pyrenees & Switzerland, but my boots are made for walkin' & that's just what I do!
