After volunteering at TC-CHS, I headed over to Boardman Lake, only to discover that there were whitecaps from the 20-30 mph wind gusts from the south. I might have ventured out on the lake if I hadn't been alone, but I really didn't want to be a headline in the Record-Eagle the following day, after a possible rescue from the Coast Guard. There is no need for me to bring them more business. Lake paddling just wasn't in the cards for this day.
So I drove down to Beitner, where the people of Norm's cleanup were taking out. Tracie said she was still up for a tour of the river, and my wonderful hubby helped us with the shuttle. On to Brown Bridge Landing, leaving my car at Shumsky. Tracie and I hadn't seen each other in eight days, and we had lots to catch up on! The sunshine felt warm and we paddled quickly, chatting the whole time. A glorious afternoon! Thanks, Tracie, for being my paddle buddy.
One highlight was meeting a woman at the takeout, who told us how much she appreciated the porta-potty that is funded by our club. She took a rack card, and plans to join!
