FINAL! Boardman River Post Flood Debris Cleanup
This was the 11th post-flood debris recon and cleanup trip that the Boardman River Clean Sweep has completed on the Boardman River in 2013. All of these are documented but not on this site. 4 are documented on this site.
It all got started when we decided that the BRCS would dedicate the 2013 season to getting the Boardman River back to the condition it was in before the October 6, 2102 flood.
We had no idea it would be so difficult or that so many people from so many different organizations, businesses, charities and from so many different locations would come to help us.
Just some of these were the GTCD, Rotary Good Works Charities, Adams Chapter TU, TAPC, AMEC, DNR, Boardman Plains Homeowners Association members, local business donors and river residents.
In total, we removed over 8000 pounds of wreckage from the river. WOW! You've probably heard me say this before, but if I had known there was that much debris in the river, I would NEVER have even thought of doing this project. Fortunately, I didn't know so I got started and once I start something, I get a form of OCD called N-O-R-M-OCD.
This day's project was the one that was best documented with photos. Tracie and Glenn did a fine job of getting some great pictures. There were 290 turned in to me and there is no way I can put them in this report along with captions and explanations as I usually do. So, I have edited out (what Glenn calls) the "ugly" ones and placed the good ones in a gallery for you to see.
I did save a few to start you off and then I added a link to the gallery.
11 of us ready to go.
We knew what to bring to be ready for anything. We've done this before.
Now the gallery:
Click on the thumbnails and the pictures will come up in a larger format.
43 people helped us do this 11 day project. Some helped all of the days, some helped one day. To everyone who came out to do this project, the river THANKS YOU! You did good.
