Jocelyn and I paddled from the Forks to Brown Bridge today. The river was running about 250 CFS; normal for this time of year is about 140, so the river is high, fast and cold. There were six spots where fallen trees required precise maneuvering. The current often wanted to push you into the obstacle, but there was always a three or four foot slot through the obstacle. Several of the places we were only able to get through because of the high water, meaning we could go over a log now, but at normal water levels it would require a portage. Steve Largent is planning to go out and clear this section just before the Memorial Day weekend. Right now the water is just too deep and fast to be able to wade out with a chain saw to cut the downed trees. Here are a few photos of the difficult spots.

Jocelyn and I tried to tie a rope on this log and pull it out, but is was just too heavy.
