Trip Reports

June 3 - Upper Platte morning

Published on 6/3/2014
It was a perfect morning paddle with a small group of 7, Mike & Debby, Angie & John, Michael & Dan, all in kayaks. Cool 60s, partly sunny on a rain-swollen Upper Platte that was high, covering most of the rocks. We finished our paddle in only 2 hrs it was so fast! Everyone enjoyed spotting eagles, mergansers, a turtle, muskrat, and a few wildflowers still too, marsh marigolds & forget-me-nots. Mike had not paddled the Upper in many years, Debby & Michael not before, so was great for them to experience it now, before it becomes a shallow gravel-bar. I love paddling through the cedar swamp, so one of my favorites! There was very little trash spotted during our paddle at high water, but we left it for Thurs' cleanup.
