June 25, 2014 - Post Flood Debris Project - River Pitch to Shumsky
This has been a frustrating and difficult project to complete.
High river levels, bad weather, conflicting projects, personal scheduling for
the leaders and volunteers, previous commitments and just plain bad luck has
hindered the process of getting this dangerous junk out of the river.
Today's project was especially difficult because there were just 4 of us but we
got a lot done.
The pieces were large and heavy but all but one came out of their locations without
much difficulty. One was at a bridge and pinned by the heavy current and logs piled
on top of it. It was not so nice to us.
We did find a nice paddle under it that was in remarkably good
condition and later, Lois told us she knew who it belongs to and we will return
it to the owner.
We removed ALL but one of the docks from the river from BB Landing to Shumsky.
That dock is in a particularly bad location and planning is underway to get it out soon.
All the others are either out of the river and gone or at locations where
they can be picked up by road access.
We could use some help with the completion of these projects to get our
Boardman River back to the condition it was in before the breech and Spring flooding.
