I'm a new member as of Monday, went on my first paddle with TAPC today for a class on Moving Water. Instructors John, Lois and Tracie were all very helpful as we tried our luck with upstream and back ferries, eddy turns and more. We all managed to stay in our boats even with one student getting hung up on a tree and needing assistance of a couple of others' quick thinking and help, who got her safely out.
We all practiced kissing a rather large rock and didn't fall in, so all in all, it was a great day of learning some new skills and improving old ones. We also recovered a lot of trash or maybe some river magic, 3 beer cans, 2 glass bottles, a rather large metal pot, a half deflated river raft chair, and a Mega Blaster that doubles as a bilge pump! After loading boats we enjoyed a great lunch at Olive Garden. Tomorrow off on another adventure: debris removal - and I thought we got it all today. Looking forward to more trips and meeting more new friends.

Note from another participant:
Thanks to Lois, John, and Tracie for a wonderful lesson in river kayaking today. Vic and I have been talking about how much we learned and how much more confident we are now. We had no idea what to expect but it was great. I have paid big bucks for lessons that were not nearly as thorough and useful as these were.
Thanks again to all three of you, Cary Drennen
Sorry - no photos today - much too busy teaching.
