Jackie Anderson, Tracie Lord, Marv and Marlene Puska, joined John Heiam and Lois Goldstein on a paddle down the upper Pine River. The group met Val from PIne River Paddlesports Center (PRPC) at their landing at Walker Bridge near Silver Creek Campground. John and Lois were the last to arrive at 9:10 AM for a scheduled 9:30 AM meeting. We left our cars, tied the kayaks to Val's kayak trailer, piled our stuff and ourselves into PRPC's van and were shuttled up to Briar Patch.
The sun started to break out as we launched, but it was chilly. We had the river to ourselves all the way to our lunch spot at the upper Skookum access. While we ate lunch, a group of six guys drove up and unloaded their gear. They were planning to carry their gear in the kayaks and camp at Silver Creek Campground. We left before they got on the river, and the only other person we saw was one fisherman. From him we learned that there are only seven members in the Ne-bo-shone Association!
We landed at the PRPC's landing at 2:00 PM, which is about as fast as we have ever done the trip. On our paddle down the river we saw a few larger pieces of trash that need to be picked up when we have a canoe.
