Brown Bridge Landing / Shumsky Landing
Toilet and Tote Project Report
May 2014 - October 2014
In March of 2014, Tracie Jones and Norm Fred decided to combine the
resources of the TAPC and the BRCS to try to get some interest in having
a toilet and trash tote at the NEW Brown Bridge Landing - formerly Brown
Bridge Dam site - and the Shumsky Landing
We opened a joint bank account called the BRCS Sanitary Fund
and began to seek donations to fund the project.
We were able to get donations from Streamside Orvis Fly Shop and Northern
Angler Fly Shop. Plus, the TAPC got a grant from Adams Chapter Trout Unlimited.
The BRCS and TAPC donated an equal amount. The BBAC donated 1/2 of the
other donors since their interest was confined to the BBL exclusively.
We found that when the totes and toilets were placed, the landings became
100% cleaner and more inviting. The river downstream also was cleaner.
The project was a huge success with no problems during the time
the facilities were there.
The BBL project will end Sept. 23. The Shumsky project will end Oct. 23.
The total spent on this project was just a bit over $1000.00.
Work is now being done to place permanent toilets at both of these sites.
