Not exactly a fair weather paddle, but…
Ten brave souls (Sue & Gerry, Jocelyn & Max, John W & Winston, Jill Z, Trish S, Marlene and Mike) ventured out on the Upper Platte River this morning with rain falling and in the forecast. The river level was up and the current swift. We had no torrential downpour though and the showers were actually intermittent. By the time we finished at the Deadstream Rd takeout, there were even patches of blue sky.
We saw lots of ducks on the river today and also a couple blue heron, a green heron, kingfishers and even a bald eagle. The river was very peaceful and there were still wildflowers in bloom along the banks. We paddled right along today and made it to lunch in Honor by 1 pm. Everyone seemed to enjoy their time on the water despite the damp weather.
