5th Upper Manistee River Cleanup With UMRA

Today we teamed up with the Upper Manistee River Association to do
this annual project in the rain for the 7th year in a row.

We had volunteers from the GREEN Team of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church,
the TAPC, and from the Kingsley High School ODAC.

The TAPC and BLC-GT paddled from CR-612 to Long's Livery.

The KHS - ODAC paddled from Long's Livery to M-72.

Then all were invited to the Old Barn Restaurant in Grayling by the UMRA
where they fed us like kings of the river.

Here are the photos from today:

The morning meet-up and breakfast at the BK in Kalkaska.

We wish to thank the members of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church
Green Team who braved the rainy weather to do this important
work to preserve and protect  God's creation.

We wish to thank Boone Scharp for his help with this project.
It shows that just a few people can make a big difference
when they are motivated and have a mission.

We also want to thank the UMRA for all they do to keep the UMR an even
more beautiful place than it already is.   Through their hard work the UMR
has improved accesses for boaters and fishermen and have planted
thousands of trees in this historically heavily deforested area.

A special thanks go out to Barb at Long's Livery (989-348-7224) who
always allow us to her property to  putin and takeout.

We want to thank ShelHaven Canoe Livery (989-348-2158) for the
complimentary shuttle service today.
