April 17 Lower Platte

A few club members began our season with an easy paddle on a lovely river before "tourist traffic" makes it a mad house. This is a beautiful, quiet trip at this time of the year before the rush of summertime visitors. The group consisted of Marv & Marlene, Jackie, Tracie & new members Doug & Lindy. Marv showed off his new sit-on-top kayak with its King of Thrones seat which makes his entry & exits more graceful than ever! Marlene was color co-ordinated in orange with her Wilderness Tsunami. Jackie paddled "Mustard", her yellow Pungo & Tracie's "Snot Urz" AKA "Relish" made the trip. Doug & Lindy sported their Swift tandem canoe for the journey. Beautiful weather, sunny & warm prevailed throughout the afternoon. Muskrats, a turtle & various birds were the wildlife spotted. A few other hardy boating souls were also out enjoying the water along with a quadrille of wading fishermen.with Steelhead Trout as their quarry. All went smoothly during this start to the season shakedown paddle. All participants repaired to the local bar & grill in Honor for a delicious repast, libations and story telling.
