A group of 9 welcomed the official start of summer on a lovely early evening paddle on the Lower Platte. The time of day provided both plenty of shade and a serenity seldom experienced on this popular summer float. We encountered only a few others along the way, plus a muskrat, and a duck with a fleet of hatchlings. Irises were still blooming, and the breeze on Loon Lake was refreshing. 7 of the group met for dinner afterwards at Joe's Friendly Tavern for dinner, and a giant slice of chocolate cake to celebrate the Wilgus' 37th anniversary!
