We paddled on a beautiful day with no mishaps, few bugs, many flowers. This stretch is about ½ public land and is not overrun by houses and cottages. The put in and take out roads are passable but in poor shape. (John) The river moved at a nice steady pace and there were enough bends in the river with some downed trees to keep it interesting.  I got to talking too much and had to recover or dump.  Oops!  I had a lot of help from the more experienced paddlers.  Thanks!  If I didn’t get to visit much afterwards, it was because I had to pay attention to the river.  I would say this was a good refresher course for me (Camille) after a year of not paddling down in West Texas.  The mighty Rio Grande is dry and sandy when irrigation is not in season.  Paddling’s like riding a bicycle, it all comes back after awhile.  I got in several trips while I was here which was nice.  It was good to see old friends and make new ones.
