We met at noon. I thought this was a little late for a paddle but the day was beautiful. It wasn’t as shady as most of the other trips. However, the clouds came in and covered us most of the day. There was the occasional cool breeze as well. Tracie started us off with an excellent demonstration of how to enter the river from the pier. I can’t think of the word off hand. (Editor's note: it's a seal launch) The river was flowing faster than the Platte River paddle on Monday night. I don’t know if this is saying much. It was an easy trip. There were no major issues. Susan got a bag full of trash! I was taking pictures with my I-phone. John had bought a waterproof case which made it possible. I must say after doing so, I have great respect for John Heiam’s photography because it’s not easy to take pictures and not run into a bank. We went through a culvert which was cool but I was also trying to take a picture and not bump against the side. The Betsie River is sometimes paralleled by the cycling trail up above. John and I had just ridden that the other day. I recommend eating at the Cabbage Shed next time you’re in the area. We weren’t able to meet for eats afterwards. Maybe next time. I hope to see y’all next year when I return.
