A close-by, 2 hr paddle on the Upper Platte from Veteran's Park to Deadstream Rd this morning before the crowds. Only 2 fishermen & 6 kayakers, but passed them emptying water from a kayak early on. The first section was very shallow. Enjoyed the wildlife, an eagle soaring above the river, following a huge blue heron downstream, 5 muskrat that jumped into the river & swam across in front of my canoe, and several duck families. When we loaded up, the cars were lined up along Deadstream & the parking lot at Veterans park was full. There was a cool breeze on the river, so not hot yet. One of my last paddles until fall.
