Trip Reports

July 18 Lower Platte Cleanup

Published on 7/18/2016
We left the river a lot nicer than we found it!
Photos and captions by Lois; trip hosts were Tracie and Jackie

Camilla on her first TAPC outing; this was BEFORE she decided to walk the river in the quest to be up close and personal with the goodies down below

Tom Auer, Tracie and Jackie getting their act together

Bob Fitch brought along granddaughter Elana, who had a ball, and found sunglasses (among other treasures)

Elana goes in for the "kill", right before she sunk into the muck - and then came up smiling

We came upon two rangers who were spraying to get rid of invasive species purple loosestrife; they helped us locate even more old beer cans that required stabbing

Tom, on the lookout, in his sweet solo canoe - he brought a spear and a net!

Trash at the halfway point at the Fish Wier, with David, Lois, Camilla and Tracie

David didn't expect to get paid $10 for having so much fun - this was Mother Nature paying him back!

Trash near the end

The entire group - still smiling: Bob, Lois, Tracie, Jackie, David, Camilla, Tom and Elana

David found both of these: money for himself, and the Swiss Army knife for Camilla - it was a very good day!  FYI: David is one of my former calculus students.  He just graduated from TC Central HS, and he's off to the U of M Honors Program this fall
