Actually, it was a pleasant day to be on the Boardman River. Yes, it was 90 F when we reached Brown Bridge Landing at 2:30 pm, but for the most part we never really noticed the heat. We didn’t even take a swim break today. Ten kayaks and one solo canoe made the trip. We passed 9 tubers along the way and they said the water they were sitting in was still chilly.
The shuttle headed out from the Forks at 10 am, we stopped for lunch at Sheck's and finished by mid-afternoon, as mentioned above. We had a great group and it seemed like everyone really enjoyed today’s leisure paddle. Water levels were fine and no one got into any trouble. It was a bright sunny day, but much of this section is shaded and there was a nice breeze. Probably the highlight of the trip was to witness Tracie making a perfect otter launch after lunch.
It was a fun time and it is always memorable to paddle through the section that once was Brown Bridge Pond. Everyone remembers the slog across the sandbar at the east end. There are lots of black-eyed susan’s along the banks right now. It's looking good.
