Sept 10, 2016 4th Annual Anglers of the AuSable - SBr River Cleanup

Anglers of the AuSable Annual River Cleanup

We have been cleaning the S Br for many years but for the past 4 years we have
timed our Fall cleanup to be the same day as the Anglers' project.  They put on a
great party for their members and they graciously invite us to be their guests.

Seven of the twelve that had signed up arrived to paddle on a day when
the weather was forecast to be bad.  But we braved the "misty" start
and took one bag of trash and some lumber out of the river.

Also, the DNR had placed a BRCS lock on the Castle gate so we would have easy
access there to load our boats and gear when we were done.  That did not
work out as we had planned because someone changed the locks around
incorrectly before the event and we were locked out when we arrived at the
site BUT some Angler volunteers arrived just in time to help us get our gear
up the hill and to the parking lot.

The river was full from the recent heavy rains but also pretty clean.
Terry found a smiley bobber.

Then we ate and had some free beer.
I drank water for a change.

On the way home, it rained like crazy, so the forecast had been right but
the river gods were kind to us this time.

I want to thank all the volunteers that showed up to help on a "dangerous" day.

I want to thank Tom at PADDLE BRAVE for making our shuttle so fast and safe.

I want to thank the DNR for their willingness to let us have access to the
 Castle for projects like this.

I want to thank the GATE'S LODGE and the Anglers for inviting us to the great
picnic that we look forward to so much.

This project and the work we do earlier in the season, has made the
AuSable River system one of the prettiest and cleanest in the State of MICHIGAN.

Look for all the photos here:
