Jocelyn (& Max) joined me for a reconnaissance paddle on the Upper Platte from Veteran's Park to Deadstream Rd today, but there were no obstacles, not one bunny hop, downed tree or limbo! Instead, we enjoyed the wildlife, steelhead, blue heron, osprey, immature eagle, mergansers, mallards, turtle, trumpeter swans, muskrats & a few small batches of marsh marigold. Today's water level was at 145 cfs, 1.3 ft gage height, which will be my minimum for a paddle due to the gravel bars & the shallow silt entering Platte Lake. Yesterday & today, U.S. Fish & Wildlife crews were working in waders along the Platte, removing sea lamprey from the sediment. We all enjoyed the perfect weather, sunny & 72F.
